Information Literacy

Information Literacy is

  • the ability to identify what information is needed,

  • identify the best sources of information for a given need,

  • locate and access those sources,

  • evaluate the sources critically, and

  • use the information legally and ethically.

Doing research requires a solid grasp of the print and digital environment, the search tools available, the types of information, and the methods of evaluation necessary to determine quality and relevance.
