Sightseeing Excursions

The Central Oregon Coast is just 64 miles (1.5 hour drive) to the west. Lincoln City is a great coastal town for tourists to visit! Shop at the Lincoln City Outlets, get your clam chowder for dinner at Mo's, and then head out to D River or Roads End beaches to watch the sun set!

A little ways south of Lincoln City on Hwy 101 is the smallest bay in the world, Depoe Bay. A great place for whale watching!

Newport is 25 miles south of Lincoln City on Hwy 101, and home of Yaquina Bay and Yaquina Head Lighthouses, and the Oregon Coast Aquarium.

Go north on Hwy 101 to visit Pacific City (climb the giant sand dune), Tillamook (home of Tillamook Cheese Factory), Cannon Beach, Seaside, and Astoria.

Mt. Hood and Timberline Lodge, located about 85 miles (2 hour drive) from Newberg, are also popular destinations in any season!

The Columbia River Gorge, east of Newberg & Portland, provides numerous short day hikes filled with views of breathtaking scenery. Multnomah Falls (54 miles east of Newberg), is a frequently visited favorite.

Our neighbor, McMinnville, home to Oregon's favorite main street and quaint shops and fun dining experiences, is located just 14 miles SW of Newberg on HWY 99W.

And, of course, every librarian needs to visit the famed Powell's City of Books while near Portland! For other things to see & do in Portland, click here.

Downtown Portland is 24 miles from Newberg.
