ELP Standards, developed for K,1, 2-3, 4- 5, 6-8, and 9-12 grades, highlight and amplify the critical language, knowledge about language, and skills using language that are in college-and-career-ready standards and that are necessary for English language learners (ELLs) to be successful in schools.

Oregon is a member of the English Language Proficiency Assessment for the 21st Century (ELPA21), a group of states committed to supporting educators, school administrators, and communities as they adopt and implement the new English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards and college- and career-ready standards. The ELPA measures and reports on students’ English language proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and comprehension.

The primary purpose of the Multilingual Education & Multilingual Learner Resources page is to assist educators, school district leaders and educational partners in the implementation of programs that support multilingual learners in accessing and benefiting from a world-class, well-rounded and equitable education system.
