Map of Our History

This map can be used to explore historic downtown Newberg. You can use the first map to see the complete history and view pictures of any location on East First Street. The second map can be sorted by era so that you can explore how Newberg has changed over time. 

 

 

How to use this map

Find a Specific Location:

  • zoom in and select the icon for any location
  • to search by address, make the map full size, click the search icon in the upper left-hand corner and type in an address, then click on the corresponding icon

Explore by Era

  • Click on the  icon to expand the menu.
  • Select the era or eras you would like to view. (Hint: Deselect eras you do not want to see.)
  • Select any icon to explore the map. Notice how the types of businesses, identifiable by icon have shifted over time.

Mobile Instructions-Overview

Please note that on mobile devices the maps will open in the Google Maps App. There may be other icons, placed by Google, and not associated with this project. 

  • Expand the map by clicking anywhere on the map.
  • Select any icon and pull up from the bottom of the screen to see the history and images associated with that location.
  • Alternately, click on "View map legend" at the bottom of the screen to view all locations on the map.

  • Expand the map by clicking anywhere on the map.
  • Click "View map legend"
  • Select the box next to the era or eras you would like to view 
  • Press the back button on the top left hand side of the page to return to the map. Note: Pressing "Close" will close the project map and no icons will be visible.
